Introduction

The Ivy League, consisting of eight prestigious American schools including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, is traditionally associated with high academic standards and outstanding achievements of its students.

The influence of Ivy League universities on the American education system is a topic whose relevance goes far beyond simple academic interest. It is directly related to key issues in contemporary American society and the global education system.

Many people believe that only genetically gifted students can enter universities such as Harvard, Yale etc.

The hypothesis of our project is that Ivy League universities have had impact on the global higher education and can be a role model for other universities associations.

The object of this study is the Ivy League universities, and the subject is the collective image of students of these universities and its influence on the global system of higher education.

The purpose of the project is to demonstrate, using statistical facts and data, that the example of the Ivy League can be used by other countries to encourage young people to get higher education.

The main objectives of the research:

  • study the definition and history of the Ivy League;

  • explore reputation and academic standards of these universities;

  • collect the information about the Ivy league students and analyze it.

To achieve this goal, a number of research methods will be used, including statistical search and analysis, data aggregation, and the use of neural networks to generate information. This will provide a deeper understanding of what qualities and skills are necessary for successful studies at an Ivy League university and how modern technology can help shape an ideal student profile.

Chapter 1. Ivy League Universities and Their Impact on American Education

1.1 Historical Context

The Ivy League is originally a sports association of eight private institutions of higher education located in the northeastern United States. The term is also often used in reference to these eight schools as a single group. It implies exclusivity in the quality of education, electability at admission and belonging to the social elite.

The name of this League is connected with a tradition of planting ivy at many universities in the 19th century. The term "Ivy League" has been generally accepted since 1954 after the formation of the NCAA Division I athletic association, when Americans were largely divided into fans of different university sports (football) teams. However, over time, the concept of the Ivy League has spread to other aspects of the life of the universities united in it.

Ivy League universities (or simply "Ivy" universities) are consistently ranked among the top 15 colleges and universities in the United States by U.S. News and World Report magazine. In 2010, the top three among the best universities in the United States were Harvard, Princeton and Yale universities, respectively, from the Ivy League. The League's universities are also among the richest academic institutions in the world, which allows them to attract the best students and faculty.

Ivy League universities can justifiably be considered one of the leading research centers in the country, funded from various sources. For example, Ivy League universities have their own funds: for example, the endowment of Harvard and Yale Universities in 2014 amounted to 36.4 and 23.9 billion dollars, respectively.

2.2 Adoption of the Experience

The successful experience of forming the elite image of Ivy League universities can be adopted by Russian universities, institutions and colleges.

We have formed the plan that will help to motivate young people enter universities and make Russian higher education prestigious around the world.

Sport

Universities can form their own competitions. Sport is available at Russian universities, but it does not have such popularity as in the USA. College football has one of the widest fan bases in the United States, sometimes surpassing the NFL. Each college, university has its own team and sports program. It is great motivation for sportsmen to get higher education and it brings benefits for the country’s economy. College sport is so popular in the USA that tickets to students football matches are often more expensive than to professional league games.

Groups and associations of universities

It can help universities to exchange their experience, to work in collaboration, to make great projects, to support each other.

Extra-curricular activities

Universities should give a chance to creative young people, who seek to improve the world around them, who have leader’s traits of character and non-standard thinking.

It is necessary to have student clubs, communities, organizations, sport teams.

Networking

Students and graduates networking can provide valuable connections and opportunities for career advancement. Also, it can it can attract bright students from other countries.

Diversity and Inclusion

Creation of diverse and inclusive communities, offering resources and support for students with special needs.

PR campaign

Creating, managing and promoting a positive image of Russian universities in Mass Media and cinema.

Conclusion

The aim of the present research is to study the impact of Ivy league universities on global educational system. We have studied the history and influence of these universities. Ivy League Universities are eight elite private universities in the United States, their collective impact on the American and global educational system cannot be overestimated. They set standards for academic rigor, innovative research, and, importantly, forming an elite that subsequently defines the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the country and the world.

The Ivy League's influence is evident on several levels. First, these universities set extremely high standards of academic achievement. Secondly, Ivy League university graduates often occupy key positions in various sectors, from science and technology (many Nobel laureates are graduates of these universities) to business, finance, and politics. This is not just a coincidence, but the result of a high-quality education that builds leadership skills, the ability to think strategically and solve complex problems. The influence of these graduates on decision-making at the government and corporate levels is enormous, and their success further confirms the prestige and high level of training provided by Ivy League universities. Thirdly, these universities are centers of scientific research and innovation. They attract leading scientists from all over the world, have advanced laboratories and technologies, and receive significant public and private funding.

We came to the conclusion that all that mentioned above facts helped Ivy League universities to become elite and prestigious. Our research allowed us to find out that the adoption of Ivy League experience will help to promote higher education in Russia and make it elite and prestigious. Our practical part will be useful for teachers, career specialists and university promoters. The problem of interest for higher education among teenagers is relevant nowadays and it can be the object for further research.

Taking into account everything mentioned above, we consider that the hypothesis has been proved.
